Recipe Book Design & Printing for Time & Talents

Food seems to be a bit of a theme for the last couple of journal posts – this time it’s a recipe book recently designed and printed for the London based youth charity Time & Talents.

All of the recipes and content within the book were researched and written by the young people, who receive an AQA qualification and a certificate for taking part. It’s great working with young people on a project that helps them develop their skills and widens their learning.

The project started with a meeting and discussion with the young people, where we talked about what they liked and wanted to see in their recipe book. We then came up with the idea of featuring different kitchen ‘scenes’ on each page, where we could display some of the equipment and ingredients in a top-down viewpoint. Some rather complicated Photoshop work ensued, and voila!

Newsletter Design

The latest edition of the Salmon Youth Centre’s newsletter design has recently been completed. The 16 page newsletter contains various custom illustrations, bold typography and a vibrant colour scheme. Click here to view some sample pages of the new newsletter design.

The newsletter was printed on recycled paper stocks with a Natural finish. This paper uses up to 70% less energy and at least 15000 fewer litres of water per tonne of pulp used*. Using a recycled paper stock instead of virgin wood fibre also helps to reduce pressure on forests and diverts waste paper away from landfill.

Wedding Invite Design

The design and printing of a new range of wedding invites have recently been completed. The designs feature a set of three square cards containing the invite, location map and RSVP card. These cards are then held together within a custom designed folded holder, which features a printed message on the inside. The wedding invite cards are housed within the holder and the whole package is neatly sealed with the address label.

Youth Centre Folder Design & Illustration

A new folder design has recently been completed for the Salmon Youth Centre in London. The folder design features an illustration featuring bold typography and spray painted textures and stencils. The stencils were produced by members of the youth centre, scanned and then incorporated into the illustration.

The A4 size folder has slots to hold a business card in the flap and features a 5mm capacity (thickness) so that the recently completed annual report and newsletter will fit comfortably into it.
